GO Noodle House (有間麵館)

Have you ever craved for a bowl of slurpy noodles, yet afraid that its taste may not live up to your expectation? Fret not, GO Noodle House at The School, Jaya One offers one of the best noodles in town. GO Noodle House which stands for ‘Got One Noodle House’, is constantly packed with customers at any time of the day. Decorated in a perspicuous ancient Chinese ambience, GO Noodle House brings back the once famous noodles during the Qing Dynasty, which KangXi Emperor conferred as the best noodles in the world.

While waiting for your turn to be seated, you can browse through the menu displayed at the entrance. Customers are allowed to customise their noodles, first by choosing the type of noodles (handmade Mi Xian rice noodles or rice vermicelli), then followed by the broth (superior or homemade spicy soup). For those who love spicy food, you should give the latter a try. But do bear in mind that the spicy soup is RM0.50 more expensive than the superior soup. The noodles can be served in different textures (thick, thin or torn), and with or without soup according to your liking. Lastly, choose the ingredients to be added into the noodles, ranging from squid/fish/pork balls, clams, prawns and even grouper fish fillets.

What amazed me most were the bottles of Hua Diao Chinese wine (花雕酒) that were neatly displayed on the shelfs. Each bottle was labelled with a customer’s name, kept for use during his or her next visit. Customers who love a richer flavour can purchase a bottle of this wine that ranges from three to thirty years of age, to be added into their soups. Besides enhancing the flavour of soup, this wine can also be consumed just as a beverage like any other wines.

Despite the high volume of customers and the time taken to cook each bowl of noodles separately, the average waiting time to be served was just approximately 10-15 minutes. While waiting for the main dish to be served, my family and I opted to have the sweet and delicious imported Taiwan sausages to fill our hungry stomachs. These are best eaten when still hot. The only thing that turned me off was the amount of oil used to fry these sausages, as evidenced on the oil absorbing paper beneath.

We were absolutely flabbergasted with our portions, where the ingredients and soup were generously served in each bowl of noodles. Its signature superior soup noodles contain a small amount of wine, thus augmenting its flavour and fragrance. Believe me, each slurp of the silky and smooth Mi Xian rice noodles clearly defines a heavenly experience which words cannot describe.

The homemade spicy soup on the other hand, was just as tasty as the superior soup. Although not as spicy as expected, it was addictive enough for one to crave for more of its broth after the first sip. Besides all that were mentioned, GO Noodle House is also famous for its homemade pan mee (flat-flour noodle), which I missed tasting this time around.
